Healthy High-Performing Women: An Interview with Megan North, Health and Wellness Coach in Lane Cove

Healthy High-Performing Women: An Interview with Megan North, Health and Wellness Coach in Lane Cove during her Ageless Over 40 personal branding photo session with Photo Finish Photography

International Women's Day is the perfect time to celebrate and showcase women who are making a positive impact in their communities.

One such woman is Megan North (49), owner of Wellness While Working in Lane Cove North. As a health and wellness coach and energy healer, Megan helps high-performing women in business to achieve optimal mental health and balance in their lives.

Recently, I had the privilege of photographing Megan for her personal branding portrait session. Here is a recap of our interview:

1. Hi Megan, can you tell us a bit about what services your business Wellness While Working provides?

Health & Wellness Coaching and Energy Healing

2. When did you start your business?

1 July 2021

3. Why did you start the business?

I am deeply passionate about mental health and wellness and I saw this as an opportunity to work for myself and to write my own story on my career.

4. Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am happily married to Darren who I absolutely adore, we have lived in Lane Cove North since we started dating and we love the community and people in this area.

I am the youngest of 6 children and grew up in an adult world as there is a significant difference in age between myself and my other 5 siblings. I am an Aunty to 13 nieces and nephews and a Great-Aunty to 8 great nieces and nephews and although I've not had children of my own I have been surrounded by them since I became an Aunty at the age of 11.

Before I started my wellness coaching business I had a 20 year career in HR and before that I was a legal secretary for 12 years (and I can still type 120 words per minute!). I love being in nature and going for walks, and although I love being around my family and friends I am also very comfortable in my own company.

5. Why should a potential client consider your business over others?

I'm known as The Overwhelm Coach. I work with high performing women in business to gain optimal mental health, wellbeing and balance in their life.

I have been one of those women through my whole career and I completely understand the overwhelm we feel trying to do everything.

I have also struggled with my mental health so I understand how challenging and at times debilitating this can be when you are trying to keep everything together.

My energy healing also adds a difference to the coaching I do as it can help my clients to delve deeper into why they are feeling the way they do. Please note however that not everyone wants the energy healing in their sessions and this is totally ok, I work with clients who don't want to include it and some who do.

6. Who might your business appeal to?

High performing women in business which can include working mums, women entrepreneurs, women in corporate business and any women who work for themselves and/or someone else.

7. What's your price range? Can you give some examples of products and price for any potential customers?

I have 2 programs that I offer.

βœ…My Kick-Start program consists of a 60-minute coaching session and 2 x 30-minute follow up coaching sessions and this is priced at $449 (ex GST).

βœ…My Rock Solid program consists of 12 x 50-minute coaching sessions as is priced at $2,599 (ex GST).

Both of these programs will see you create a Wellness Vision, 3 monthly goals and week goals (or experiments).

8. What is your usual turnaround time?

Clients will usually wait around 1-2 weeks to get a booking with me.

9. How has your experience with your business been so far? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out?

I was never nervous about starting my business as I have full confidence in what I do. It just takes time to build a following and for people to now know me as a Health & Wellness Coach and not a HR person.

10. What are some of the difficult aspects of your job? (e.g. difficult client, keeping up to date with blog/marketing, etc). How did you deal with it?

I'm really not a fan of doing my books and lodging a BAS every quarter so my husband has taken over that aspect of my business which I have been extremely grateful for.

The whole social media side of things was stressful but I now have a wonderful social media guru who creates templates and things for me which has made a huge difference.

11. What would be your advice to someone thinking of engaging your services?

It is absolutely normal to feel nervous and unsure of the changes you want to make, but taking the first step and having a conversation with me will definitely alleviate some of those worries.

We often think "I'll do it tomorrow" and that's ok, but sometimes we need to just take the change on ourselves and gift ourselves the time to make the changes. Change isn't an event, it is a journey.

12. What's the best client/job you've had so far? Can you describe what services your provided, what their feedback was and how it made you feel?

I had a client who wanted to work with me and she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to change but she took the chance anyway. She had just become a new leader of a team and she wanted to ensure that her own mental health and wellbeing was in good shape so she could be a wonderful leader to her team and also be a good role model to them too. She gained so much confidence in herself through the 12 session program.

When she started she didn't like to delegate as she liked to be in control of the work, but once she learned some techniques on how she could delegate, she was empowering her team and giving them so much room to grow and learn by delegating and she realised how much time she could free up by giving them the work she really didn't need to do. In our last session she joked and said that she couldn't believe how much time it took to lead a team and thank goodness she had learned to delegate!

13. How can people contact you?

0404 491 211 or wellnesswhileworking.com.au

14. Are you happy to offer a discount code to anyone who views your business through my blog?

Yes absolutely. If anyone from the Lane Cove area would like to book in for my Rock Solid program, I am willing to offer it to them for the discounted price of $2,066 (ex GST).

Thank you Megan!!

Megan’s passion for mental health and wellness is evident in everything she does, and her clients appreciate her personal touch and dedication. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Megan on her personal branding portrait session, and I look forward to seeing her business thrive!!!
