8 Must-Know Tips for Incredible Family Photos: Book Your Photo Shoot Now with Photo Finish Photography!
Are you tired of blurry, unflattering family photos? Do you wish you could capture the perfect family portrait that reflects your family's unique personality and interests? Look no further than Photo Finish Photography!
We've compiled a list of 8 tips to help you capture the perfect family beach photo shoot based on the recent photoshoot we did with Mum, Dad, Miss L (12), Mr H (9) at Long Reef:
Location, location, location
Choose a location that reflects your family's personality and interests.
For this photoshoot, we went to the rock platform at Long Reef, which was a favourite spot for the family.
We planned ahead for low tide so the family could walk onto the rock platform and capture some amazing shots that reflected their love for nature and adventure.
2. Timing is everything
Schedule your photo shoot during a time that works best for your family. For this shoot, we scheduled it during the late afternoon to capture the warm, glowing light that makes everyone look their best as well as to coincide with low tide times.
3. Dress for success
Coordinate your family's outfits so that they complement each other without being too matchy-matchy. For this shoot, we went with casual clothes in blues, beige, and white, which looked great against the natural backdrop.
4. Get everyone on board
Make sure everyone knows what to expect and is on board with the photo shoot. We had a pre-shoot questionnaire that helped us understand the family's interests, and we used that to make the shoot more enjoyable for everyone.
We knew of Miss L’s love for sketching, art, books, and anime and wanted to create something arty and special for her at this age. Mr H’s passion for soccer and video games was evident when his eyes lit up as we talked for ages on those topics! I love capturing their spirit and personality at their ages, creating images that will be treasured for years to come.
5. Keep it natural
Encourage your family to interact naturally with each other, rather than forcing stiff poses or cheesy smiles. For Miss L and Mr H, we knew they loved to laugh and play around, so we made sure to capture those moments that showed off their personalities.
6. Use props
Adding a few props can add interest and personality to your photos.
7. Experiment with different angles and poses
We tried different angles and poses to add variety to the photos. For Miss L, we made sure to capture her authentic and naturally beautiful self, while for Henry, we captured him goofing around with his dad and sister.
8. Choose the right photographer
Finally, choose a photographer that understands your family's interests and personality. At Photo Finish Photography, we specialise in creating timeless and beautiful family portraits that reflect your family's unique personality and style.
Our approach to family photography is all about capturing the moments that matter, the memories that make you smile, and the connections that bring you closer as a family.
With our tips above and guidance during the shoot, you'll feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, resulting in images that truly reflect your family's unique personality and style.
