Playgrounds are open again and with lockdown restrictions beginning to ease, we are excited to soon be photographing families again from 1 July 2020 onwards (whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines).
Probably one of the most common questions I get asked after a client has booked their photo session with me is “What should I wear?”
There are no “rules” when it comes to what to wear for your portraits. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and be yourselves. Remember that these portraits are about you, not your shoes!
Choose a style of clothes and coordinate them to show that you are a group, a family and that you belong together. Pick similar tones and colours that compliment each other. Lay out all your outfits, and see if they look nice together!
Some clients go black tie for a grandma’s 60th, some come in bright colours that are reflective of the mood they wish to evoke in their photos, some do the neutral coloured beach palettes and some rock up in rain with umbrellas and gumboots. Just do you and be authentic!!
I loved this gorgeous girl and her simple yet elegant outfit we shot in March as it really suited her and her personality. Whilst white is not everyone’s first choice when you’re going to shoot a toddler/preschooler (it definitely wouldn’t be for my super active kids as it would be stained within 5 seconds!), this really suited her as she was very demure, didn’t run around much and she followed instructions really well because….. (and I didn’t know this until after the photos were shown to the parents)… she loves having her photos taken!! A photographers’ dream! :)
