Pic Or Treat 2019 | Capturing Spooky Delights for a Cause
As I reflect upon my journey as a photographer, I can't help but feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing clients. Each session brings its own unique joy and connection, leaving a lasting impression on my heart. It is this gratitude that led me to organize an event that not only celebrated the spirit of Halloween but also gave back to a cause that holds tremendous importance in my heart: Variety - The Children's Charity.
Variety is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with disabilities. For over 90 years, they have been championing the rights of these children and striving to provide them with the support, resources, and opportunities they deserve. Their mission is to ensure that every child has an equal chance to fulfill their potential, regardless of their circumstances.
The work Variety does is truly remarkable. They offer a range of programs and initiatives designed to address the unique needs of children in different areas, including healthcare, education, mobility, and recreation. From providing essential medical equipment and therapies to funding inclusive playgrounds and educational scholarships, Variety goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on the lives of these children and their families.
Being deeply inspired by their dedication and the incredible difference they make, I wanted to find a way to contribute and support their cause.
This gave birth to the idea of hosting "Pic or Treat" - a Halloween-themed photo shoot event where families could have fun, capture memorable moments, and, most importantly, give back to Variety. It was an opportunity for me to combine my passion for photography with my desire to make a positive impact in the community.
The response to the event was overwhelming. Families from all walks of life came together, dressed in their spookiest costumes, ready to have a blast while supporting a cause close to their hearts. It was heartwarming to see little witches, aliens, gremlins, and an array of other fantastical characters fill the studio with laughter and joy.
Throughout the afternoon to the evening, the energy was electric. Children dressed as witches, mummies, pumpkins, cats and ghouls (just to namea few) giggled and posed, their eyes filled with wonder and excitement. Parents beamed with pride as they watched their little ones embody the spirit of Halloween. It was a true celebration of imagination, creativity, and the power of community coming together for a common goal.
The best part of it all was knowing that every smile captured, every cherished moment frozen in time, was contributing to Variety's mission. All the proceeds from the event went directly to the organization, enabling them to continue their vital work and create positive change in the lives of children who need it most.
